When can I start exercising with Blissful Babies?

You can start either the Aquanatal Fitness or Pilates sessions with us from 12 weeks. It is important to rest and take things nice and easy in those earlier weeks. A lot of ladies won't feel like doing much exercise until the second trimester, so 12 weeks is a nice time to start and build those core muscles and begin the exercises.

Following the arrival of baby, again, you should rest and allow your body to recover, especially if you had a caesarean section. Blissful babies will welcome you from 6 weeks post natal following a vaginal birth and 8-12 weeks following a caesarean section. However you must ensure you have the all clear from your Midwife/ doctor before resuming exercising again. 

When can we start Baby Yoga?

You can start to practice Baby Yoga following your 6-8 week postnatal check with your GP and confirmation that both of you are well enough to partake in the gentle exercise and stretching. If you have any concerns, you must raise these with your GP and disclose this in your Blissful-Babies health questionnaire before attending.

What equipment will I need?

For Aquanatal Fitness, just your lovely selves and swimming kit. Blissful babies will provide all flotation aids and any other props that may be used.

For Pilates and Baby Yoga Classes, Blissful Babies can provide a workout mat for the session. You can also purchase your mat directly from us if you wish to practice your Pilates or Baby Yoga at home. Contact us or ask Sara when you see her for more information.

It is also useful to bring a small soft towel with you to either Pilates or Baby Yoga. This can be used as a support aid or a small blanket for baby to lie on.

A support aid for Pilates and Baby Yoga will be required for some of the postures. This could be either a small pillow or cushion which would support your head and a rolled up towel or soft blanket to place under your back and bump (during pregnancy). Don't worry if you forget to bring them along, Sara will always have a few with her.

For Buggy Workouts, don't forget your wheels. Comfortable gym/sports wear and some outdoor trainers. We won't be rolling around in the mud but may lie down on the ground during the summer months. 

What experience should I have of Pilates or Aqua Fitness?

You don't need to have been to any Pilates or Aqua Fitness sessions before to be able to join our Blissful Babies sessions. The sessions will build on exercises week on week and, depending on the ability of each lady, Sara will tailor the exercises and guide you through them. So please don't be worried about joining at any stage.

...and I haven't exercised in ages... what about Buggy Workout?

It's exactly the same for Buggy Workouts, you choose your pace. We don't leave anyone behind. It may have been a while since you last exercised like this but Sara will work on your stamina and build on this week on week. You will possibly work in pairs for certain exercises and you'll soon be right in the groove with the group. These workout groups are great fun and all the ladies love seeing new faces and getting to know each other.

How long do sessions last?

Antenatal and Post Natal Pilates sessions will be 45 minutes.

Aquanatal sessions are either 30 minutes or 45 minutes, depending on the venue.

Baby Yoga sessions will be between 45 minutes and 1 hour.


30-45 minute workouts is an ample time for a great workout, especially when you have a lovely bump and you are in the water.

Blissful Buggy Workout are 45 minutes long. If the weather takes a turn for the worst during the session, we may seek shelter and then get going again when we can.

What happens if I can't make a session?

Blissful-Babies fully understands that when you have little ones or you are pregnant, circumstances and plans change. We are flexible with the buggy workout bookings, allowing you to roll them over or cancel right up to the session time. However for Baby Yoga, Aquanatal and Pilates sessions we do have a 48 hour cancellation policy. Unfortunately, if you cancel or do not attend within the 48 hours, your payment will be non-refundable. 


We just ask that you let Sara know if can't make it or may be running late for any of the sessions. That way she can either start the session or wait for you. We would ask that you give as much notice as possible but we also know that is often quite difficult.

I've booked for the month... but what happens if my baby arrives before I've used them?

At Blissful-Babies we offer the option to carry your sessions over, if your baby unexpectedly arrives early. If you have sessions remaining in your booking and your little one arrives earlier than expected, firstly don't worry, we will just look forward to seeing you and the little one when your ready. 

We are happy to take weekly bookings for Aquanatal and Pilates from your 34th week of your pregnancy, this way you can have a little more peace of mind regarding attending your classes without the worry of paying for the month, and the worry baby could arrive a little earlier.

Blissful babies offer Pilates and Aquanatal Fitness for Postnatal stages as well. There's also the Buggy Workout sessions which run locally in the parks. If you'd like to switch your session bookings to use them for a different exercise class, just contact Sara and she'll make the necessary arrangements and send you all the information you need.
